Beacon Health System and the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center (OSMC) are collaborating on a new $15.1 million ambulatory surgery center that will be constructed west of Beacon Granger Hospital in Granger.

The Surgery Center of Granger will be located on a 4.65-acre site on the north side of Beacon Parkway near the Indiana Toll Road entrance and Capital Avenue. Ground has been broken on the project.

The 23,130-square-foot, one-story building will be designed to accommodate growing patient demand and will create a destination for orthopedics and pain management in the region. The surgery center is projected to open in the fall of 2022, with four operating rooms and two procedure rooms.

Beacon Health and OSMC have been discussing the future of orthopedic services in northern Indiana for many months. This joint venture reflects the vision of these leading healthcare providers and a commitment to provide the highest quality care to patients in a convenient location.

“We’re excited to bring the outstanding care from our two organizations in this state-of-the-art musculoskeletal surgical center,” said Gregg M. Ebersole, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, Beacon Health System. “Beacon and OSMC will work together as partners to inspire health by returning patients to more mobility and less pain through procedural interventions.”

This collaboration offers specialized experts and advanced surgical technology that not only aligns their high clinical standards and orthopedic skills, but also their goal of helping people feel well and live their healthiest lives.

The project is being managed by Panzica Building Corporation.

“The team at OSMC is excited to partner with Beacon Bone & Joint to provide smart, innovative surgical care. The new surgery center in Granger will establish itself as the premier destination for surgery and care,” said Mark Klaassen, MD, Joint Reconstruction Specialist, OSMC. “Given OSMC’s and Beacon’s mutual interests in advancing high-quality and high-value care, the co-management expands capabilities, enhances access and affordability and improves health in the communities we serve.”
