The 16,500-square-foot facility, located in the immediate downtown Mishawaka area, will create a new destination point for healthcare patients in a convenient new location. The facility will house family medicine and specialty care practices with diagnostics and laboratory services.
Beacon plans to break ground on the outpatient center in late 2021 at 126 N. Church St. The outpatient center is projected to open in 2023.
“We’re excited about adding an outpatient center in the Mishawaka community,” says Diane Maas, Beacon’s Chief Strategy and Growth Officer. “This facility will offer convenient services in what we believe to be a growing market, and we have additional future investment planned at this site as the residential base continues to develop in this vibrant city center.”
Phase 2 of the project will comprise an attached 15,000-square-foot facility on the current Mishawaka Utilities property. After the city of Mishawaka relocates its offices, Beacon plans to demolish the existing building and construct an $8 million addition onto the outpatient center.
Parking will be added for patients between Main and Church streets, and the project will provide a pedestrian connection to the Mishawaka Riverwalk.
“As a community partner since 1894, Beacon Health System is committed to serving the wellness of all people in the region,” says Jeff Costello, Beacon’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “This project will enhance the aesthetics and fabric of a walkable downtown.”
