La PORTE, Indiana – One year after opening the doors of Franciscan Beacon Hospital to patients in LaPorte, the collaboration between Franciscan Health and Beacon Health System has proven to be a vital addition to the community’s healthcare landscape.
The two trusted health systems partnered in 2018 to begin construction and renovation to the I Street campus where Beacon Medical Group has served the community for 50 years. In July 2020, the state-of-the-art hospital began providing convenient emergency and specialized care in the 92,500-square-foot facility.
“Our partnership with Beacon Health has been fabulous and has allowed us to collaboratively design an innovative model of care,” said Franciscan Health Michigan City President and CEO Dean Mazzoni.
“The partnership with Franciscan Health is an important part of our mission of delivering outstanding care, inspiring health and connecting with heart in the LaPorte County community. We are so glad to have Franciscan Beacon Hospital in our system,” said Kreg Gruber, chief executive officer of Beacon Health System.
The size of the facility allows patients to access high quality care on a more intimate and personal basis. It includes a 24-hour, 10-bed Emergency Department, eight inpatient beds for overnight care with nursing station, laboratory services, an on-staff pharmacist, physical therapy, telehealth connectivity and the latest imaging and diagnostic equipment.
“Our patients have told us they appreciate the convenient access to care with short wait times and friendly staff available through the Franciscan Beacon Hospital. And together, we have been able to offer the residents of La Porte immediate access to high quality specialists through our joint efforts,” Mazzoni added.
